Georgia's land borders remain closed amid Covid-19, 8 Jul 2020 - 16:13, Tbilisi,Georgia

The current regulations will be maintained on the land borders of Georgia, says PM Spokesman Irakli Chikovani after announcing today that Georgia is opening its air borders for travelers from Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia.

The Georgian government continues to actively cooperate with EU member states, partner countries, and in accordance with the recommendation, once every two weeks the conditions will be reviewed for entry of international travellers to Georgia as well as Georgian citizens wanting to travel abroad", said Chikovani.

Several days ago the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia said that the government does not plan to ‘take any fast steps’, and so land borders will not be opening yet. 

He added that activity at Georgia’s land borders is being effectively monitored.
